On 9th November 2024, Manchester’s longest-ever-running urban venue celebrated 17 years of
unforgettable nightlife in the heart of the city.
The journey began in October 2007, when The Manchester Lounge (originally Lounge31) first opened its doors, making a bold impact on Manchester’s nightlife scene. Located near the iconic Printworks at 31 Withy Grove, it quickly became a go-to spot for partygoers, renowned for its late-night license that allowed revelers to continue well into the early hours. Over the years, it has remained a beloved venue for local residents, visitors to the city, and late-night industry workers looking to unwind after their shifts.
The Manchester Lounge’s enduring success stems from the vision of its two founding families, whose Indian and Nigerian heritage brought a unique cultural blend to the venue. Combining their decades of experience in event planning, business, and entertainment, they created a space that infused Manchester’s nightlife with the rhythms of RnB, Hip Hop, Dancehall, and Afrobeats. The venue has hosted both local talents and internationally renowned DJs, offering guests an unmatched musical experience.
Despite evolving through various names—Lounge31, Aura, The Lounge, and now The Manchester Lounge—the ownership and core values have remained consistent. The venue has become a cornerstone of Manchester’s nightlife, known for its iconic events, brunches, and late-night parties. With four distinctive VIP areas, it accommodates multiple parties or full venue hires, adding to its versatility as an underground hotspot. Reflecting on the milestone, co-owner Eddie Odudu shared, “We never in our wildest dreams believed we would still be here after 17 years. Having staff and customers who’ve been with us since the beginning means the world to us.”
Over the years, The Manchester Lounge has hosted performances from some of the music industry’s biggest names, including DJ EZ, Trevor Nelson MBE, Bugzy Malone, Public Enemy, Ginuwine, Skepta, and many more. It has also been a launchpad for local DJ talent like DJ JC, DJ Cee Gordon, G2, and Marcel Stevens, solidifying its reputation as a hub for Manchester’s vibrant music scene. In recent years, the venue has expanded its offerings, with comedy becoming a key feature. Since launching The Comedy Lounge in 2021, it has welcomed celebrated comedians such as Richard Blackwood, Slim, and White Yardie, creating a unique mix of music and humor for its patrons.
The 17th-anniversary celebration on 9th November brought together new and long-time fans for a nostalgic night. Guests enjoyed drinks, music, and entry prices rolled back to 2007. With glamorous décor, complimentary welcome drinks, and surprises throughout the night, the event captured the essence of what has made The Manchester Lounge a mainstay in the city’s nightlife
